So ChainTrap posted this over at his blog. Seems like a good idea. I just recently started playing again, after being away since August, so I thought this might be a good way to get some suggestions for gear upgrades. Keep in mind that I’m Survival spec’ed, and that raiding anything above Kara/Gruul’s would be highly unlikely. So here goes.
Head: Gladiator’s Chain Helm (PvP)
Neck: Earthen Mark of Razing (Quest Reward)
Shoulders: Beastmaw Pauldrons (Karazhan, Opera Event)
Back: Cloak of the Inciter (Shadow Labs, Blackheart)
Chest: Laughing Skull Battle-Harness (Black Morass, Temporus)
Wrists: Stalker War Bands (Karazhan, Attumen)
Hands: Vengeful Gladiator’s Chain Gauntlets (PvP)
Waist: Felstalker Belt (BoE crafted, Leatherworking)
Legs: Scaled Greaves of Patience (Old Hillsbrad drop, Captain Scarloc)
Feet: Boots of the Skybreaker (Quest Reward, 
why are you laughing???)
Ring 1: Ravenclaw Band (Sethekk Halls, Talon King Ikiss)
Ring 2: Truestrike Ring (Random World Drop)
Trinket 1: Bladefist’s Breadth (Quest Reward)
Trinket 2: Ancient Draenei War Talisman (Quest Reward, REALLY want to get an Hourglass of the Unraveller but no luck on the drop yet)
Weapon 1: Sonic Spear (Shadow Labs, Murmur)
Ranged Weapon: Steelhawk Crossbow (Karazhan, Attumen)
I need to work on a couple of pieces (boots especially), and get a few enchants and/or better gems. Right now my Agi is 659 with Lightning Reflexes. I’d like to push that over 700 unbuffed. Also, my crit is around 27.65%. I should be able to get the Gladiator’s Chain Spaulders this weekend. That should help a bit. Next step would probably be to get the Veteran’s Chain Sabatons.

Generally, I think that your gear isn’t bad at all. The shoulders and boots that you are aiming for are good upgrades, and getting the Hourglass eventually will help. I’d look to get the Bloodlust Brooch through badges to replace the trusty Bladefist’s; and Legacy from Oz in Kara will be a good upgrade from the SS. I struggled to find something decent to replace my Felstalker Belt, until I found the Belt of Deep Shadow. It was expensive (2k + mats), but it is awesome.
I’m still waiting for Attumen to donate the Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation to the cause, The Curator to finally drop Garona’s Signet Ring, and am about to replace my Scaled Greaves with the Gladiator’s Chain Leggings.

Other than PvP gear, belts and boots seem to be the nastiest upgrades to get! Here’s a hint… don’t be ashamed to wear leather! I wouldn’t take it from a rogue or druid that need it more as leather is their only option, but I wore a leather belt from Kara for quite a while and ran Heroic Slave Pens until I got the leather pants off the end boss there.
Since you’re survival and agi is pretty much the most important stat you have… leather is probably your best bet for upgrades. Lots of agi and stamina and + hit stats as well. That’s not to say you shouldn’t get mail gear, but leather is nothing to look down on. We basically want the exact same stats as fury warriors, feral druids, enhancement shammies and and rogues.
Your gear makes you totally Karazhan ready and you should see some nice upgrades in there.
Sonic Spear! Nice! I always applaud someone who goes through the time and effort to get that weapon! You learn a lot about what is expected of a hunter in SL!
